Retail has no slow day to fix things. The register has to clear cards while the floor stays busy, and every flat network or dead spot costs you a sale.
When registers, back-office computers, and guest devices share one network, a single infected laptop can reach your payment terminals. That is a PCI finding waiting to happen, and a breach risk on every card you swipe.
Handheld scanners drop at the back of the store, tablets stall at checkout, and line-busting grinds to a halt during a Saturday rush. One mounted access point at the register cannot cover a full sales floor.
Loss prevention asks for last Tuesday at 4pm and the footage is already overwritten, mislabeled, or behind a password nobody has. A camera that does not produce clean, retained video gives you nothing to act on.
